Specializing in Disorders of the Brain, Spinal Cord and Nerves
Neurology is a branch of medicine concentrated on diagnosing, treating,
and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system. Neurologists are
highly trained clinicians capable of diagnosing complex conditions through
detailed history and physical examination, including testing of mental
status, vision, speech, strength, sensation, coordination, reflexes, and
gait. Even as medicine becomes more dependent on technology, the neurological
exam will remain a critical component of the patient evaluation.
Common Neurologic Conditions:
Cerebrovascular disease, such as stroke
Demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis
Headache disorders
Infections of the brain and peripheral nervous system
Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s
disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease)
