Our private labor, delivery and recovery rooms provide a calm and comforting
environment for your delivery. After your baby is born, you’ll move
to a private mother-baby room. Specialized nurses will care for you and
your baby, answer any questions, provide education and connect you with
any needed resources.
We aim to meet your birth plan expectations and encourage you to communicate your desires with our staff. From traditional labor and delivery to natural childbirth and cesarean section, Anderson’s highly trained OB-GYN physicians, midwives, nurses and support staff are ready to share in the delivery of your miracle.
Our fully staffed Well-Baby Nursery provides care for your healthy newborn. Every newborn is fully evaluated daily by our team of Neonatologists, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Neonatal Nurses. If any unexpected complications occur, our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has the staff and equipment needed to provide the best care your baby needs.
Anderson Regional Birth Center offers a safe, nurturing environment for
your maternity stay. We take the security of our smallest patients very
seriously. Our Nursery Unit is a locked unit where only designated personnel
can gain access using ID swipe cards.
The childbirth education program at Anderson Regional Birth Center is designed to prepare you and your family for the birth and parenting of your baby. The classes offered by the Birth Center are complimentary to those planning to deliver their baby at Anderson. Please schedule your classes with our experienced team of maternal/newborn educators and nurses by calling 601.553.6123. Each class lasts approximately two hours. One session will include a tour of the labor, delivery and recovery suites, the newborn nursery and postpartum rooms.
Family and friends are an important part of the childbirth experience and can be of great support to the new parents. We encourage your family to follow the guidelines below while visiting.
Once you are admitted to Labor and Delivery, you may have up to four (4) individuals visit at a time. Visitors must check in with the Admissions Clerk (near the Birth Center entrance) to receive a visitor’s badge that should be worn while in the unit. When checking in, each visitor must provide the patient’s first and last name.
After the baby arrives, the patient will move to a Post-Partum room where visitors are permitted between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. The number of visitors in this area is not limited. Visitors may check in with the clerk at the admissions window near the Birth Center entrance to be granted access to the unit. When checking in, they must provide the patient’s first and last name.
Only designated hospital personnel with proper badge access may enter this unit. Parents and grandparents (two visitors at a time) will be granted entry to the NICU by designated personnel. Other visitors must be accompanied by a parent or grandparent. No visitors are allowed in the NICU between 4:30-10:00 a.m. or during shift change.
Patients may also choose to be admitted confidentially so their name will not appear on any patient lists. You may choose a code number or word that visitors are required to give in order to gain access to the unit.
The guidelines and policies set forth by Anderson Regional Birth Center are put in place to meet our goals and our patient’s expectations during the birth experience.
At Anderson Regional Birth Center, we encourage and support skin-to-skin
contact— it is the best beginning for both you and your baby.
Research shows that skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth and in
the newborn period is very beneficial for both mom and baby.
Some of these advantages include:
At birth — if conditions allow — your baby will be placed directly
on your chest immediately after delivery. We will place a blanket and/or
towel over the baby to keep the baby warm as you enjoy your first precious
moments together. Skin-to-skin contact is recommended for at least one
hour after birth.
Depending on the condition of the mother and/or baby at the time of birth,
skin-to skin contact may not be possible. However, skin-to-skin contact
is beneficial at any time during the early newborn period, even after
you leave the hospital.
Please check in at the Admissions Desk near the Emergency Waiting Area when you arrive at the hospital.
