Tom C. Maynor Rehab Center

The Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center, an acute rehabilitation facility, was established in 1999 to create a facility that allowed patients to receive intensive rehabilitation and 24-hour care, yet stay conveniently close to home and family. In the spring of 2002, the Center was dedicated in honor of retired local businessman Tom C. Maynor in recognition of his strong advocacy on behalf of stroke survivors and their families. Today, the center excels in helping patients achieve maximum function, exceeding national benchmarks on multiple measures.

Accreditation

Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. The accreditation follows a voluntary, rigorous peer review process. During an on-site visit by a team of surveyors, the Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center physicians, therapists, nurses and staff demonstrated their commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

We are Dedicated to Our Patients

At the Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to treating the whole patient — physically, emotionally and socially — and provide a wide range of therapy services to help our patients return to their highest level of functioning and independence.

Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to the Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center, a patient must:

  • Require access to a rehabilitation physician
  • Require 24-hour rehabilitation nursing
  • Tolerate an intensive therapy program of at least three hours of therapy daily, five days a week
  • Need at least two forms of therapy, including physical, occupational and/or speech therapy
  • Have the ability to achieve rehabilitation goals in a reasonable time period

Patient Care Team

We have created a team of highly trained professionals to deal with every aspect of the patient's treatment and recovery. The team, headed by our medical director, includes rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, and social workers. They all work together to develop goals and coordinate and plan patient care.

Family members are also an integral part of the rehabilitation team. They are encouraged to assist in goal setting, participate in the care of the patient and attend scheduled therapy treatment sessions with the patient. The family is educated on the patient's limitations and strengths and how to help the patient continue functional improvements at home. But the most important member of the team is the patient, and success depends on his or her commitment to the goals.

Patients find that time in our program is different from a routine hospital stay. We believe that caring for patients means helping them learn to do as much for themselves as possible. Patients participate in a daily schedule of one-on-one therapy, group treatment, community re-entry and adaptive leisure activities, patient and family education, training and support, and other goal-directed activities. Upon discharge, patients continue their course of treatment in their community environment and return to the care of their personal physician.

The Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center at Anderson - South is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
