Classes

Big Brother! Big Sister!

There are many important lessons for big brothers and sisters to learn before that wonderful baby arrives. This class will help introduce your child (ages 12 years and under) to the upcoming changes in the family. Call 601-553-6123 to reserve your spot.

Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding is the absolute best way to feed your baby because breast milk offers a lifetime of health benefits for both mom and baby. This class provides information for parents to learn the most current info and techniques for a successful breastfeeding experience. Call 601-553-6123 to reserve your spot in either the moms only class or the moms and dads class.

Childbirth Classes

As your special event approaches, you may have many questions about the labor and delivery process. These classes cover topics such as the discomforts of pregnancy, stages of labor, coping strategies, anesthesia options, surgical interventions, recovery care and more. Infant CPR Class

This class is provided by an experienced nursery nurse and is designed to give new parents, as well as other caregivers, the basic information on what to do in emergency situations that might require the skills of infant CPR. Call 601-553-6123 to reserve your spot.

Newborn Care Class

This class is designed to give you, as a new parent, the confidence needed to care for your wonderful baby! Everything from normal newborn behavior and characteristics at delivery to practical advice for daily care is included in this session. Call 601-553-6123 to reserve your spot.

Look Good, Feel Better

Cancer patients are invited to this free course designed to help improve self-image and appearance through complimentary group, individual and self-help beauty sessions that create a sense of support, confidence, courage and community. Call 601-485-5081 for more information.

Tobacco Cessation Class

Want to Quit? We can help by providing motivational strategies in a supportive group setting. Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist Sharon Davis, RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC leads this 6-week course that begins in January, April, July and October. The course is FREE to patients referred from affiliated Anderson programs. Non-referred patients can take the course for $100 (non-refundable fee). Call 601-485-5081 to register.

Support Groups

Alzheimer’s Support Group

This group offers support, education and fellowship for Alzheimer's caregivers. The group meets the 4th Tuesday of the month (except in November and December) from 5:30-7pm in the Anderson- South Board Room. Call 601-703-5477 for more information.

Breastfeeding Support Group

The Breastfeeding Support Group is a great way to connect with other breastfeeding moms for encouragement and support from the Lactation Consultants. Join us on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 10am in the Lactation Center, located near the Birth Center. Call 601-553-6034 for more information.

Cardiac Support Group

This group offers support and education to patients who have been diagnosed with a cardiac condition. Call 601-553-6399 for more information.

Diabetes Support Group

This group allows participants to share their experiences with diabetes, learn from others, and interactively discuss how they live with diabetes. Call 601-553-6399 for more information.

Epilepsy Support Group

Living with epilepsy is easier when you can share with others who are in a similar situation. Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi now offers East Central Mississippi a support group meeting for adults and youth living with epilepsy and parents of children living with epilepsy. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month from 5:30-7:00pm in the Morgan Conference Room, adjacent to the Anderson-North Cafeteria. For more information, call 601-936-5222.

Stroke Support Group

This group offers support, education and fellowship for stroke survivors and their caregivers. The group meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month (except in November and December) from 5:30-7pm in the Anderson- South Board Room. Call Tom Maynor at 601-703-5477 for more information.
